Our Continuing Commitment to Reconciliation
Our team at the Queensland Pharmacy Students' Association acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as First Australians. We acknowledge the Turrbul and the Jagera peoples who are the Traditional Custodians of this land on which we meet at PACE, and recognise their ongoing connection to land, waters and community. We continue to value and celebrate the knowledge, cultures, histories and languages that have been created and shared for at least 65,000 years.
We would like to thank Aboriginal artist, Carl Simpson, for the creation of the following artwork.
The blue and green colouring was chosen to represent the primary colours of the Torres Strait Island flag. This colouring also embodies Australia which is surrounded by water which contains life by means of sustenance and medicinal properties that flourishes in it.
The boomerang is an implement traditionally utilised by generations of Australian First Nation people. The boomerang comes in a variety shapes and sizes dependant on the intended use. It was used in primarily in hunting and ceremonial use as well as in conflict. The markings symbolise the intended use of each particular implement.
